Matt Keating comes to Lane's Board of Education by way of progressive political advocacy, FM-radio broadcasting, and a passion for theater arts.

Back in Matt's broadcasting days he experienced, firsthand, the pains of corporate downsizing. Matt left radio for nearly a decade and launched a re-education effort in 2005 beginning his theatrical endeavor in Lane's Theater Arts program.

"Broadening Lane's theatrical audience while building key community coalitions was key to our success," remembers Keating. "Lane's Student Productions Association to this day works very closely with community partners like FOOD for Lane County and the Lane Blood Center, offering ticket discounts to patrons who give back to our community. The strength of LCC's SPA: We built -- and continue to build community together."

As Lane's vice-chair, Matt Keating fiercely opposes the top-down, corporate model of managing Oregon's community college system.

Building a broad coalition of diverse education enthusiasts, Matt Keating is dedicated to achieving fair and equitable funding for Lane Community College.
